Movie bosses yank Houndog from 5,117 AMC theatres nationwide after outcry over Dakota Fanning rape scene.

According to the IMDB, Houndog is a drama set in the American South, where a precocious, troubled girl (Fanning) finds a safe haven in the music and movement of Elvis Presley.

Yet North Carolina prosecutors who viewed director Deborah Kampmeier's coming-of-age film reviewed the film back in November 2007 and declared while some people may find the film  "disturbing and distasteful, there was no evidence that the scene constituted sexual activity under North Carolina law."

The now 14 year-old child star Fanning was 12 when she shot the film.

The film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival so this is no surprise to the theatre chain corporation which is under an organized boycott by family value groups.

During last weeks preem in New York City Deborah Kampmeier said, "A lot of agendas are being projected off this film that have nothing to do with the film and they're being projected onto it by people who haven't actually seen the film.  It's too bad."

"The song and Elvis is kind of her escape from her life, which is filled with a lot of hardships," star Dakota Fanning told The ENQUIRER at the premiere.

"It's a brilliantly poignant film that clearly depicts how free expression of female sexuality remains unacceptable in today's world, and what survivors of sexual violence must do to reclaim their bodies and selves from their perpetrators," Hollywood Now president Lindsey Horvath stated in defense of the film.

How can you say the movie is "censored"if the people who made the film are the ones who pulled it from the theaters? sounds like a case of the market forces to me.hollywood should try making movies people want to see, instead of making "social" and "political" statements.
