"Pour la peau d'un flic" (1981) is a rather good French thriller starring Alain Delon (who also directed). The plot, about an ex-cop turned P.I. caught in the middle of an intrigue featuring a missing person and a ring of drug dealers, is convoluted and pacing stalls a bit during the second act, but Delon's unsofisticaded approach towards filmmaking gives the humor and action packed scenes just the right attitude. The film also has great acting turns by Delon himself and Anne Parillaud ("Nikita", "Innocent Blood"), as his flirting secretary with a penchant to say whatever crosses her mind, often with shocking results.
