Nfl Brett Favre retires

One of the best quarterbacks ever to grace a playing field, Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre, has just retired, having broken pretty much every major NFL QB record including an amazing run of consecutive games. No doubt he will be missed by fans and rivals alike, not only for his abilities but his attitude and approach to the game.

Obviously he's one of the best ever but is anyone else a little sick about how much coverage ESPN has had on Favre since he announced his retirement? To me it almost seems like they are treating the coverage as if someone had died!

Joe Montana...a BETTER quarterback than Favre...deserved this kind of coverage.

I don't remember them sucking Elway's dick this way either...anyone remember?

I think it has more to do with the time of year. There isn't a lot going on in the sports world, and the NFL is king. Everything about the NFL gets slurped, and Favre is the Super Slurpee. The draft, the combine, Tom Brady's foot...It all gets covered ad nauseum.

Different era of sports. When they retired, there wasn't PTI, Around The Horn, Mike and Mike, Jim Rome Is Burning, NFL Live, ESPN First Take, 1st and 10, Outside the Lines, etc.

I know I'm kinda late on this one, but anyone else feel he's kind of getting a shitty deal from Green Bay considering all he's done for 'em. Granted they're offering him big bucks not to play, but when you don't need the money and there's the threat of your legacy being trashed just because you wanna change your mind, sounds like a bum deal to me.

I'm not a big Packers fan, but talk about a kick in the balls to one of their best known players.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)—Brett Favre will be reinstated and added to the Green Bay Packers’ active roster Monday.

The NFL announced the move Sunday after commissioner Roger Goodell had held off on granting Favre’s request for reinstatement for nearly a week, hoping Favre and the team could resolve their standoff. By reinstating Favre, Goodell is following through on a recent promise to force action.

The reinstatement will become effective at 1 p.m. EDT on Monday.

Favre’s agent, James “Bus” Cook, confirmed that Favre plans to fly to Green Bay on Sunday and report to the Packers on Monday.

“That’s the plan,” Cook said in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Sunday.

Favre could be on the field as early as Tuesday.
