The comedian said he thinks a possible third movie “could work.”

Bill Murray could be as good as in for a possible third installment of the “Ghostbusters” saga, reports Access Hollywood.

The comedian told audiences at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, that he looks back on the first “Ghostbusters” movie fondly and as possibly some of his best work.

"I think the first 45 minutes of Ghostbusters were about as funny as a movie gets. We didn't have a lot of special effects then, just a couple. It was just the funny characters in that world."

Murray has apparently heard about the possible third movie being developed by Columbia Pictures and thinks it could work.

He even gave his blessing to The Office writers, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who have reportedly been hired to write the new script.

"I heard they've hired two guys from The Office to write the script, so that could work, I think that's a good idea."

Murray also said that he felt any troubles surrounding the second “Ghostbusters” movie are a thing of the past.

"I think the wounds of Ghostbusters 2 have healed. It was hard to wrangle because it was tied all around the effects without the story coming first or the characters moving through it."

He may have had criticism of the second film, but he also gave the makers credit saying, "They're hard movies to write, and Dan [Aykroyd] really caught it with that first one."

In truth, Murray has already gone back to his role of Peter Venkman.

He was a voice actor over the summer for a “Ghostbusters” video game (due to hit shelves Oct. 31), and had nothing but positive things to say about the experience.

"It was fun to do it again. I found myself walking down Fifth Avenue singing the [theme] song. People were like, God, that guy's really full of himself."

While it’s a huge jump from video game to big screen, this is just one more sign to eager fans that rumors of an upcoming Ghostbusters 3 could be accurate.
